Canvas is a “never before” for Blizzard skis. It will be the most imaginative project in our history and do things we have not done before.

Penelope Misa

Penelope has set her life up around two things:
Art and skiing. From her home in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, Penelope is inspired by the mountains and Culture that surround her.

Her creativity knows no bounds, and across many mediums, her art exudes A deep fascination with skiing. At Blizzard, we live and breath skiing. Penelope shares in our obsession with the mountains, and her creative outlook on such makes her the perfect person to bring the identity of Canvas to life.

What is monotype

Monotype printing is a unique and expressive form of printmaking that creates one-of-a-kind prints. Unlike traditional printmaking techniques like etching or woodcut, where multiple copies of the same image can be reproduced, a monotype is, as the name suggests, a “mono” (one) type of print—there’s only one print made from each design.

What’s special about monotypes is their spontaneity and the freedom they offer. Artists often use it as a way to experiment with colors, shapes, and textures. While the process allows for control in some ways, it also invites serendipity-unexpected effects can occur during the transfer that make each print one-of-a-kind.

From the beginning, Blizzard-Tecnica freeride athletes have led the charge on the Canvas Project. While we put a great deal of faith in our engineers and product team, athlete feedback helped push this project to the limits, to ensure we were creating something authentic and original.
